Symphony is made up of entrepreneurs and senior executives drawn from many sectors, as well as deal professionals. We are involved in the development, funding, acquisition and sale of private businesses.

We work in a collaborative way, and we structure our offering with partners and clients in the way that best suits them, not the way that’s easiest for us. We are all about long term relationships based on trust and cooperation, and crucially, we’re as objective as we are commercial. We’ll give you a point of view that you can use, and measure.

We have a system to help do this quickly. It’s called Fast Track Diagnostic (OK we admit that sounds a little jargony) and it identifies what an organisation does well and where products, services and processes could be improved.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Allan has over 25 years experience in working with growing and ambitious businesses.

He spent 10 years as a management consultant in both international and UK based consultancies and has an excellent grasp of the hard and soft issues required to deliver practical change to businesses. His work experience ranges from start ups, early stage and growing businesses through to multi nationals.

Clients and contacts have included National Australia Group, Scottish Enterprise, Smith & McLaurin, Dawnfresh, The Australian Institute of Management, Clydesdale Bank as well as many small and medium sized businesses.

In recent years and in response to the challenging economic conditions Allan has worked with clients on the areas of cost reduction and cash management and has a process driven approach which wins again and again.

He also has experience of working with formal insolvency arrangements to help clients reinvigorate their business models, including pre-pack administration and company voluntary agreements.

Peter is an Economics graduate from the University of Strathclyde and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

In his career he has worked for a variety of businesses across a range of sectors and since becoming an associate of Symphony in 2009 he has largely operated as an extension of the management team in the role of interim Finance Director or Financial Controller.

Prior to joining Symphony he worked for six years with Henderson Associates, working in distressed and turnaround situations. In situations where liquidity is becoming an issue Peter is experienced in identifying the true cash needs of the business and in taking steps to implement stringent cash flow controls and effective creditor management.

Peter is experienced in all aspects of financial management including:

• Improving the effectiveness of transaction processing activities
• Finance and stewardship, including management reporting and cash management
• Decision support and control activities, including budgeting, forecasting and cost accounting and pricing considerations

Roslynn qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. She has worked in both the public and private sectors and is comfortable in all sizes of organisation.

In the early part of her career she worked as a professional adviser to clients; in recent years her role has been as an extension of management teams. Her forte is hands-on involvement with management , working with them to solve internal reporting issues or in situations where working capital is critically constrained.

Roslynn has excellent financial modelling and communication skills and excels in presenting complex situations in a way management can understand and act upon. Her inter personal skills allow her to integrate quickly within a client’s environment.

As an interim Financial Controller she is experienced in the production of management accounts, where her focus is on the provision of relevant and timely information that will support decision-making.

Her analytical skills in the areas of cost reduction, cash conservation and management information have made her invaluable to Symphony clients.
